Itinerary ideas

Seven days on Grand Cayman

The week Eileen would plan if she were coming. Take it whole, or take Tuesday and ignore the rest — the point is that nobody arrives knowing that Macabuca does a buffet on Mondays.

01 Day

Arrive and do nothing

Land at Owen Roberts, collect the car, and settle in. Stock up at Fosters and Jacques Scott in West Bay so the first morning is easy. Take the chairs down to the beach, then eat at Heritage Kitchen and watch the sun go.

  • Owen Roberts
  • Fosters
  • Heritage Kitchen
02 Day

George Town

The fish market by the cruise docks first, while it is still busy. Then the shops, and the Cayman Islands National Museum for an hour that will change how you see the rest of the week. Monday nights, Macabuca does an all-you-can-eat buffet.

  • Fish market
  • National Museum
  • Macabuca
03 Day

Taco Tuesday and salsa

Book a massage for the morning. Snorkel at Cemetery Beach when the light is high. Casa 43 for Taco Tuesday, then The Wharf for lobster bisque and a salsa lesson you did not plan on taking.

  • Cemetery Beach
  • Casa 43
  • The Wharf
04 Day

Stingray City

Light breakfast, because the boat moves. Red Sail out to the sandbar for the stingrays, then Starfish Point in the afternoon. Bacaro after six for happy hour.

  • Red Sail
  • Starfish Point
  • Bacaro
05 Day

East End and Rum Point

The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park early, the Blow Holes when the swell is up, then across to Rum Point for lunch and an afternoon that disappears.

  • Botanic Park
  • Blow Holes
  • Rum Point
06 Day

West Bay and Camana Bay

The Cayman Motor Museum, then Camana Bay to shop and eat. Finish at the Cayman Turtle Centre and read the conservation boards properly.

  • Motor Museum
  • Camana Bay
  • Turtle Centre
07 Day

One last swim

Beach in the morning, because the water is warmest before you leave and you will think about it in February. Check out, drop the car, fly home.
